Practice-oriented training

As a new manager, you have to quickly grow into your unfamiliar role and effectively take on management tasks. This proves to be one of the biggest challenges. The following key questions arise: "Should I encourage or challenge? How do I address sensitive issues or address criticism acceptably? What influence do I have and how do I shape collaboration with my employees and within the team?" At the first management level, the main focus is on gaining confidence in leadership skills. At the suggestion of our clients, mpw has developed a service that is available to various companies in the form of a one-day compact training for new managers:

  • Team or department leads who have been in a management position for a few months

  • My role and understanding as a manager
  • Influence, dealing with power and responsibility
  • Overview of leadership skills
  • Leadership style: overview and analysis of my preferred style and how I expand it depending on the situation
  • Conducting difficult conversations: Different forms of conversation, methodology, exercises
  • Practice-oriented exchange of experience on specific issues in small groups
  • Transfer to everyday life and establishing sustainable peer coaching groups

Methods:

  • Preparatory tasks (reflection questions and questionnaire for leadership style analysis)
  • Short and compact theoretical inputs, plenary discussions, individual reflection, small group exercises
  • Practice-oriented exercises using conversation simulations with direct feedback from the moderators and learning from other training participants
  • Leadership handbook for further reading and consolidation
